Bookcase Miniatures: A Design, Circuits, Woodworking, and Construction Class
For grades 3-5
By popular demand, it’s a class that’s all about making miniatures!
In this class, children will be imagining up their favorite scenes — whether it’s a room in a house, Hogwarts Castle, the inside of a theater, Planet Hoth, or a mountain vista — and recreating it in miniature scale. We’ll have tons of mini accessories on hand to build and create with. Children will also have free reign in our woodshop to design and build miniature furniture, mountains, and backdrops. For interested children, we’ll also discuss and create elements of forced perspective, to make otherworldly dioramas.
Then, we’ll take our projects a step further and incorporate lighting to really make our scenes come to life. Children will have the opportunity to solder and experiment with circuits.
Each miniature will be built within an enclosed wooden and acrylic frame, so it can become a family keepsake nestled on a bookcase or alcove.
This class will run for 12 weeks. Children may be dropped off between 3-3:30pm. We will provide a walking school bus from Union Elementary School.
Children enrolled in our fall session will have first dibs on the Winter 2025-2026 Session, in order to provide a continuity of after school programming for families who would like it.
Tuesdays 3-5pm | September 3, 2025 to November 19, 2025
