Needle Felted Cacti and Succulents
$40.00

Jump into spring with a plant that can’t die: a needle felted succulent! They are the most adorable new decor in your home, and maybe just the beginning of a new hobby!

Needle felter, fiber artist, and VCFA grad Grace Safford will be in the studio to guide everyone on making a collection of cactii and succulents to cozy up your room.

In this class, Grace will show you the basics of needle felting, how to use your tools, and how to sculpt using wool. Use your new skills to make a succulent, a cactus, or maybe even both! The best thing about felting plants is that once you’re done, you’ll never even need to water it.

All materials provided. Just bring yourself and your dreams of spring!

Do you also have a stack of clothes at home that could use a quick fix or attention, but you just haven’t gotten to it? Drop in with your well-loved garments and learn how to give them a second life! We’ll even help you make some simple alterations to improve fit and function.

Whether you need to fix a torn seam, darn a hole in a sweater, reinforce stress points, or patch a blown out knee, this open studio-style workshop provides the space, tools, and guidance to help you extend the life of your family's clothing. Simple alterations welcome too: hem pants, shorten sleeves, turn a dress into an elastic-waist skirt. Bring in as many pieces as you like.

Susanne will be there to troubleshoot your mending and alteration needs and to guide you through both hand- and machine sewing techniques, using both visible and invisible mending methods. Small fixes can make a big difference--saving you money, reducing waste, and allowing you to keep wearing your favorite clothes for years to come. Beginners more than welcome!

Blackout Poetry Night
$30.00

Craft Night is a chance to come hang out with friends, sip on cozy beverages, and work on simple, pretty crafts together! When you invite friends, you all get $5 off :)

In April, in honor of PoemCity, we’re exploring the world of blackout poetry. Using donated books that would have otherwise been sent to the landfill, we are repurposing writers’ words into our own poetry. Local writer and artist Grace Safford will guide as we look for hidden poetry in the pages of books. You are welcome to create as many pieces as you like.

From there, you can choose to create drawings and deeper meanings on the pages of books. We will have a variety of permanent and paint markers on hand for you to dig in and explore this new form of art.

Everyone will go home with their own framed print, to display or treasure.

This event is BYOB. We’ll have a selection of teas and coffee; folks should feel free to bring in their own spirited drinks to sip and share.

Craft with friends! If you and your friends sign up, tell us your friends’ names and use the code CraftNight at checkout to each receive $5 off.
