Beginner’s Sewing Workshop: Pull-On Skirts
Just between us friends: skirts are so easy to make! Why buy when you could make the exact skirt you want in one evening?! Whether you’re imagining a mini, knee-length, midi or maxi skirt, we’ll help you make it!
This workshop is perfect for beginners who are interested in dipping a toe in the world of garment making, or for any sewers who just want to sew and craft with friends. In this three-hour workshop, Susanne will guide you through sewing a simple, stylish elastic-waist skirt. You'll learn how to take body measurements to calculate the proper size, create a custom pattern perfect for you (or your kid!), cut out fabric on-grain, sew a fully enclosed French seam, add an elastic casing, and more!
As always, you are welcome to choose any fabric from our fabric wall for free, or or bring in your own lightweight woven fabric for a more customized look. (You'll need 1-1/2 to 2 yards for an adult-sized skirt, or 1/2 to 1 yard for child-sized). With step-by-step instruction and plenty of hands-on practice, you’ll leave with a finished skirt and the skills to make more on your own!
