Grades 3-5
In this class, we’ll blend a few of our favorite things: woodworking, graphic design, and maps!
Over the course of 13 weeks, we will build and design 3D laser cut spinning globes. Involving true hands-on learning, each child will finish their globe by painting the world’s continents, oceans, and even countries if they are feeling ambitious. We will share facts about countries as we go and have atlases available to students who want to learn more.
In the second part of the class, each child will choose a geographic area that means something special to them. It could be Lake Champlain, New York City, Minnesota, or France, any area they feel a connection to. Then, we will recreate a map of their chosen area in laser cut topographic detail, all the while learning how to read topographic maps.
This class will run for 13 weeks. Drop off is between 3-3:30pm. There will be a walking school bus provided from Union Elementary School.
Thursdays 3pm-5pm | December 3, 2026 - March 18, 2027 to March 13, 2026 (No class on Dec 24th, Dec 31st, and Feb 24th.)
