Whether you’re new to pottery or just want to hang out with some friends and make pretty, useful things, this class is for you! We’ll be crafting our very own floral pressed coasters, ideal for everyday use or for gifting.
In this workshop, local potter and artist Alexi High is guiding us on the art of hand-building pottery using locally sourced flowers, fronds, and evergreens to give our pottery dimension and interest.
Alexi will first introduce us to hand-building techniques, then we will delve into our collection of organic materials to personalize each our coasters. Students will be able to choose their glazes for their finished products. After a final firing, we will affix cork to the bottom of each coaster, then students will be able to pick up their set of completed coasters at the studio. Everyone will go home with a set of 4 custom coasters.
If you come to class with a specific vision in mind, we’ll work with you to create something truly beautiful and exactly what you wanted.
This event is BYOB. We’ll have a selection of teas; folks should feel free to bring in their own spirited drinks to sip and share.
