For Kindergarten to 2nd grade

Calling all cartoonists! This is your chance to help create your very own television cartoon!

In this class, children will work together to dream up a cartoon episode. We will come up with characters and a story. Then, depending on their interests, children will be able to work with Brian Herrick to learn watercolor techniques for creating background scenes, or how to draw their cartoon characters. Children could also choose to work on computer animation and learn basic programming with Maria to make their characters and backgrounds come to life. Finally, students will give voice — literally! — to their characters and act out every scene.

As part of the class, children will get to learn from professional animators in the film and tv industry and learn what really goes in to their favorite movies and cartoons. At the end of the class, children will be able to download and share their very own animated cartoon!

This class will run for 14 weeks, with children working together to create one cartoon. Drop off is 3-3:30pm. We will provide a walking school bus from Union Elementary School.

Wednesdays 3pm to 5pm | March 13, 2024 to June 19, 2024 (No class on Apr 24th.)
