This the is perfect class for the kid that likes to build. A stool? Planter? Dollhouse? Garage? If you can dream it, you’ll build it in our intro to woodworking class. Learn how to saw, drill, screw, and design wooden creations.

In this class we will learn the basic principles of woodworking using hand tools and power drills. Makers will learn about the different types of joints, hardware, finishes, and how to incorporate their own stamp of artistic expression.

This will be a maker-led class. The class will begin with a few small practice projects to learn the fundamentals of woodworking and design, which will lead to the culmination of a final project designed by the student. As always, we will work with recycled and reclaimed wood as much as possible, to show our makers first hand the benefits of sustainable design and construction.

This class will run for 8 weeks, each week building on the prior week’s work. We will provide a walking school bus from Union Elementary School to Wilder Arts Studio.
